  1. Purpose of Position

Assist's in meal planning, coordination and preparation. Participates in activities of cooks, other kitchen personnel and servers engaged in preparing, cooking and serving foods at KWA meal sites.

  1. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepares meats, soups, sauces, vegetables, and other foods prior to cooking.
  • Cooks foodstuffs in quantities according to menu and number of persons to be served.
  • Portions cooked foods, or gives instructions to workers as to size of portions and methods of garnishing.
  • Serves meals, as necessary.
  • Washes dishes, kitchen utensils and keeps kitchen clean.
  • Orders supplies and keeps records and accounts as instructed by head cook.
  • Receives and examines foodstuffs and supplies to ensure quality and quantity meet established standards and specifications.
  • Attends staff meetings as directed.
  • Attends training as directed.
  • Must obtain and maintain a food handler's card.
  1. Position Requirements and Qualifications
  • Satisfactorily pass criminal history & reference checks.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to be flexible and perform work under time pressure.
  • Ability to work with people of diversity.

3.1 Educational Level

High school diploma, GED or foreign equivalent.

3.2 Experience in Related Field

6 months or more of food preparation & cooking.

3.3 Unique Expertise/Certification/Registrations

Must have or obtain food handlers card.

  5. Physical demands:
  6. Type: active work in preparing food and management of a kitchen;
  7. Ability to exert up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move an object;
  8. Work involves standing most of the time, but may involve walking, sitting and driving for short periods of time.

  5. Ability to pick, pinch or otherwise work with fingers to operate above equipment.

  7. Ability to seize, hold, grasp, turn or otherwise work with hands to operate above equipment.
  2. Near Vision:
  3. Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.
  4. Mid-range Vision:
  5. Clarity of vision at distance of more than 20 inches and less than 20 feet.
  6. Far-range Vision:
  7. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more.
