  1. Purpose of Position

The position will include technical and logistical support to the Victim Services Manager as well as provide direct services to victims of elder abuse. This position is dynamic requiring a variety of skills and expertise.  This position delivers culturally appropriate services to a specific, traditionally underserved population. The incumbent will work as an assistant to the Victim Services Manager providing service for seniors who have experienced abuse or neglect by their intimate or non-intimate partner. 

  1. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists leadership in identifying and addressing services to victims of elder abuse;
  • Provide direct service for victims over age 55;
  • Develop ongoing relationships with other service providers such as those in health and legal systems to assist clients with navigating systems and to provide referrals;
  • Work with the Victim Services Manager and multi-disciplinary public and private sector teams to identify and respond to gaps in victim services. Teams will address the rights and service needs of elder and dependent adult abuse victims in the service area. This position may schedule meetings and serve as the point of contact for the team members;
  • Planning and participating in a multi-disciplinary team with the goal of implementing systemic change regarding how our community responds to elder abuse. Team will develop protocols for how the community will identify and coordinate services for elder and dependent adult victims of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, financial abuse, abandonment, neglect or institutional abuse. This team will identify agencies that currently provide services, evaluate effectiveness of services, coordinate agency communication, develop case review guidelines and confidentiality agreements, provide education and outreach to professionals and the public, and assist in victims' financial recovery;
  • Attend staff meetings and training as required;
  • Develop protocols for responding to elder and dependent adult victims;
  • Provide information and outreach materials;
  • Implement an outreach awareness program for victims and mandated reporters of elder and dependent adult abuse and others who come in contact with these victims;
  • Respond to the emotional and physical needs of victims by using a trauma-informed, culturally-sensitive approach to assist victims in stabilizing their lives after victimization; and
  • Collect and report data for Victim of Crime Act (VOCA) progress report. 
  1. Position Requirements, Competencies, and Qualifications 
  • Satisfactorily pass criminal history & reference checks.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
  • Knowledge of, and compassion and sensitivity to, domestic violence, elder abuse and neglect, and sexual abuse.
  • Knowledge and practical use of trauma-informed care and services.
  • Valid WA driver's license and automobile insurance in good standing.
  • Strong project management skills, ability to multi-task, and ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with staff, volunteers, community and national partners.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, time management, problem-solving & organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work with people of diversity.
  • Ability to speak in front of small and large groups of people.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand Vietnamese. 

3.1 Educational Level

  • Associate's degree in any humanities discipline preferred. 

3.2 Experience in Related Field

  • Two years of experience in community outreach, advocacy and/or domestic violence counseling/advocacy preferred.

  6. Type: sedentary workability to perform administrative duties, typing, filing, bending over to low files, reaching high files;
  7. Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move an object; and
  8. Work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking, standing, bending, twisting, reaching (at, below & above shoulder level).

  10. Ability to work 40-hour week and on call when necessary.
  11. Ability to rotationally answer the 24-hour "hotline" phone.

  14. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more.
